- We use Nvu,
(pronounced N-view).
Nvu is a nice (open-source) program that allows us to build fairly sophisticated
web pages.
- You should create a folder on the "U" drive (on the school's
network), naming it "Math." Only your math materials should
go into this folder.
- All files should be created on and saved on your "U" drive.
This drive is secure and only you can access it.
- If you do any work at home, these files should be transported (flash
disc), to school and placed on the "U" drive.
- In your root directory ( U://Math/Index.html ), there should be a
file named "Index.html." This is your web main page from which
all other of your pages will be linked. (Some people name this "Home.html"
)
- All files, folders, (the entire structure) can be transferred to
the webserver at any time. You may want to do this fairly often in order
to test your pages, making sure everything works properly (hyperlinks,
java applets, etc.).

Tranferring Files
to the web site |
To move files from students network / "U" drive,
I've decided to use another free program called "FTP
Commander." I found a need to use this because of a
short-coming in our web page authoring program. Nvu seems to only allow
the author to upload one page/file at a time. This is just too tedious
and time consuming.
(If you click on the link above, make sure you download the free version.)
This link will take you
to a seperate page to help you get FTP Commander set up and connected
to my web server. |
