Constructing the
Medians of a Triangle

Step 1) Construct a \triangle ABC.

Step 2) The side opposite vertex A is \overline BC. Select the midpoint (or center) tool , and locate the midpoint of \overline BC. This point should be labeled D.

Step 3) Select the segment tool

, and construct \overline AD.

\overline AD is the median of \triangle ABC drawn from vertex A.

Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to construct the medians from vertices B and C.

IDEAS / QUESTIONS that you will need to be familiar with:

1) How many medians does a triangle have?

2) Move points A, B, and C, then make a conjecture concerning the intersection of the three medians.

3) What is this point of intersection called?
