This site uses several unique tools for working with the math stuff. Running a couple of quick checks may save you some frustration. Most every "fix" is a very small download and a simple install.

Download

I strongly recommend Mozilla's FireFox web browser.
The recommended display setting is at least 1024 X 768.

Flash

ShowMe

Check if you have the Adobe Flash plug-in. More than likely you do, it's installed on 96% of the world's computers.

Click on the "Show Me" link.

You should see a simple animation of some lasers. If you do not, click on the Adobe Flash Player logo to the left and follow the download and installation instructions.

Math Fonts

ShowMe

The first thing we want to do (and the most difficult), is check that you have the math fonts installed on your computer.

Click the "Show Me" link to the left. If you can see the quadratic formula below (in true math symbol beauty), you are OK.

If you see what appears to be some kind of foreign code, you will need to download and install the fonts.

Click on the jsMath logo to the left and follow the directions. I suggest downloading TeX-fonts-25.zip

x = \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}

Graphs

Show Me

SVG Viewer

There are a lot of graphs in these pages, all drawn with ASCIIsvg (scalable vector graphics).

Click on the Show Me link to the left. If you do not see the graph below, you will need to download Adobe's SVG viewer using the link provided.

MathPlayer

If you are using Internet Explorer, you will want to install Design Science's MathPlayer. A couple of my pages even require IE.

Click on the MathPlayer logo on the left to go to their website.
